Electric Mosquito Swatter

It works on the insects you cannot swat. A mosquito circling a dark bedroom is not sitting on anything, so you sweep the air with the racket instead of trying to hit a surface.

The LED in the handle is the part people underrate. Mosquitoes come out when the light goes off, and this lights the space in front of the racket.

USB charging, so there are no batteries to keep buying and nothing to run out halfway through a summer evening.

The surface is safe for humans to touch and it is family and pet safe. Nothing toxic, no chemicals, no smell and next to no noise.

It is waterproof and easy to wash, which matters more than it sounds once you have used it a few times.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does it kill?

Mosquitoes, flies, fruit flies and gnats, in a single pass. Anything small enough to sit between the wires.

Why is it better than a fly swatter for mosquitoes?

Because a mosquito does not land where you can reach it. It circles in the dark. You sweep the racket through the air where the whine is coming from, and the large head does the work a swatter's small head cannot.

Is it safe to touch?

Yes. The electrical surface is designed to be safe for humans to touch, and it is family and pet safe. That is the difference between one of these and an outdoor zapper grid.

Is it safe around children?

The surface is touch safe, but it is still an electrical device and it should be treated like one. Keep it out of reach of small children the way you would a phone charger.

Does it use chemicals?

None. Nothing is emitted, nothing is inhaled, and there is no residue on a bedside table. That is why people switch to one from a plug-in or a spray.

Does it smell?

No. It is odour free and it is quiet, which is exactly what a plug-in repellent is not.

How does it charge?

Over USB. No batteries to buy, and nothing to run out on a warm evening with the window open.

How long does a charge last?

A charge covers normal evening use for a long stretch. Top it up over USB the way you would a torch, and charge it before it goes away for the winter.

What is the LED for?

Seeing what you are swinging at. Mosquitoes are a night problem, and the light in the handle shows the air in front of the racket. It also stops you swiping a charged racket into a lampshade.

Can I use it outdoors?

Yes. Patios, camping and caravans are common. The LED is more useful outdoors than in.

Is it waterproof?

It is waterproof and easy to wash, which is more useful than it sounds after a few evenings of use.

How do I clean it?

Rinse the head and let it dry completely before you use it or put it away.

Is there a smell after it zaps something?

A brief one at close range, which is normal for any electric racket. It does not linger.

Is it loud?

There is a pop when it connects and nothing at all the rest of the time. Quieter than living with the mosquito.

Does it need assembly?

No. It is plug and play. Charge it and use it.

Will it work on wasps?

It works on flying insects generally. A wasp is a wasp, and how you feel about swinging at one is a separate question.

Should I buy this or the leather swatter?

They do different jobs. The racket is for insects in the air and in the dark. The swatter is for one that has landed on a work surface. Plenty of people keep both.

Can I leave it plugged in?

Charge it and unplug it, as with any USB device. Leaving it on charge indefinitely does the battery no favours.

Is it heavy?

No. It is light enough to sweep quickly, which is the whole requirement.

Can I use it in a bedroom?

That is where most of them live. No chemicals, no smell and no plug-in glow, and the LED means you do not have to turn the main light on.

Will it hurt a pet?

It is family and pet safe by design. Do not let an animal chew it, as with any electrical item.

Does it kill on the first pass?

Usually, on something as small as a mosquito or a fruit fly. A larger fly sometimes takes a second sweep.

Is it good against fruit flies in a kitchen?

Yes, and it is one of the better uses. A cloud of fruit flies over a fruit bowl is exactly what a wide sweep is for.

Can I take it camping?

Yes. It charges from a power bank, it weighs almost nothing, and the LED doubles as a small torch.

Does it work in daylight?

Yes. The LED is simply less useful then.

What if it stops charging?

Get in touch with your order number. A charging fault is the failure that shows up on these, and it shows up early if it is going to.

How long does delivery take?

Allow five to seven days. Demand runs hard through the warm months and we would rather quote the real number than the optimistic one.

Is delivery free?

Orders over EUR 50 ship free anywhere in Austria, which saves the EUR 22 express charge.

Does it hold its charge when stored?

Well enough over a season, but charge it before it goes into a cupboard for winter and top it up when it comes back out. Batteries do not like being left flat.

Can I use it around food?

Yes. There is nothing sprayed, nothing toxic and no residue, which is the whole reason it suits a kitchen. Rinse the head afterwards.

Getting the most out of an electric mosquito racket

5 min read Magnetic Screens

The insect you cannot swat

A fly lands. That is what makes a swatter work: something is sitting on a surface and you hit the surface.

A mosquito does not land where you can reach it. It circles a dark room at head height, it goes quiet when you sit up, and by the time you have found the light it is on the ceiling. There is nothing to hit.

An electric racket solves a different problem to a swatter. You do not aim at a surface, you sweep the air where the whine is coming from, and a wide head means a small movement covers a lot of space. The tennis racket shape is not styling, it is the reason it works.

The light in the handle

This is the part people notice second and end up valuing most.

Mosquitoes are a night problem. Sweeping at something you cannot see is guesswork, and turning the main light on wakes everybody up. The LED sits in the handle and lights the air in front of the racket, which is where the insect is.

It has a second use nobody mentions: it stops you sweeping a charged racket into a lampshade, a curtain or somebody's head.

Why people switch from sprays and plug-ins

Nothing is emitted. Nothing is inhaled. There is no residue on a bedside table, no smell in the room, and no faint glow all night.

The electrical surface is safe for a human to touch, which is what makes it family and pet safe and separates it from an outdoor zapper grid. It is quiet, it is odour free, and it is non-toxic, and for a bedroom those four things are the entire argument.

Common sense still applies. It is an electrical device, so keep it away from small children and do not let a pet chew it.

Charging and cleaning

It charges over USB, so there are no batteries to keep buying and nothing to run out at the worst moment. It also means a power bank charges it, which is why these end up in tents and caravans.

It is waterproof and easy to wash. Rinse the head, let it dry fully, and charge it before it goes in a cupboard for the winter.

Keep the swatter too

These are not competitors. A fly on a work surface is a swatter's job and always will be, and a mosquito circling in the dark is not.

Most people who own both reach for the racket after sunset and the leather swatter during the day, which is about right.

Page summary

Electric Mosquito Swatter, a USB rechargeable bug zapper racket that kills mosquitoes, flies, fruit flies and gnats in a single swing. Built on a tennis racket design with a large electrified head whose surface is safe for humans to touch, making it family and pet safe. Non-toxic with no chemicals emitted, quiet and odour free, unlike sprays and plug-in repellents. An LED light in the handle lights the area being swept, which suits night-time and outdoor use. Charges over USB rather than taking disposable batteries. Waterproof and easy to wash. Simple plug-and-play operation with no assembly. Suited to bedrooms, patios, camping and caravans, and complementary to a leather fly swatter, which is the better tool for an insect that has already landed.
